The Design Lens: Interior Trends Shaping the Future of Luxury Living

As the global design community looks ahead to 2026, interior spaces are becoming increasingly defined by human experience, emotional wellbeing, and intentional living. While luxury continues to play a central role, today’s homeowners are seeking environments that offer comfort, authenticity, and a deeper connection to everyday life.

In an exclusive feature with Better Living Magazine, Sawsan Haber, Founder of DIPIUGI Design Studio and Brand Ambassador for Designers Hub at Art of Living, shares her perspective on the design trends and evolving lifestyles that are shaping the future of residential interiors.

“Our world is increasingly digital, and the desire to be more grounded and reduce over-exposure to technology is incredibly powerful,” Sawsan explains.

This growing shift is influencing how homes are designed, transforming them into personal sanctuaries that prioritize calm, warmth, and emotional comfort.

Natural materials, layered textures, warm lighting, and earthy colour palettes are becoming defining elements of contemporary interiors. Shades inspired by nature—including terracotta, cinnamon, mocha, and warm neutrals—are replacing cooler palettes, while rich textiles, natural wood grains, limestone, marble, and subtle metallic finishes add depth and timeless elegance.

Sustainability also continues to influence luxury design. Rather than following short-lived trends, homeowners are increasingly investing in interiors that stand the test of time through timeless aesthetics, toxin-free materials, ethically sourced wood, and environmentally conscious finishes. The result is a more thoughtful approach to design that balances beauty with responsibility.

Beyond aesthetics, emotional connection is becoming an essential part of interior design. Personal heirlooms, meaningful artwork, and objects that tell a story are being thoughtfully integrated into living spaces, creating homes that reflect the people who live in them and the memories they cherish.

Within the UAE, luxury remains a defining characteristic of residential design, driven by a dynamic real estate market and an increasingly international community. Yet today’s luxury is no longer defined solely by visual impact. Comfort, wellness, and functionality have become equally important, with homeowners embracing boutique hotel-inspired living, wellness spaces, meditation rooms, and sensory-driven interiors that enhance everyday life.

Looking ahead, Sawsan remains optimistic about the future of the design industry in Dubai. The city’s collaborative spirit and diverse creative community continue to inspire innovation, with initiatives such as Designers Hub at Art of Living providing opportunities for designers to connect, exchange ideas, and shape the future of interior design together.

This feature, published in collaboration with Better Living Magazine, reflects Art of Living’s ongoing commitment to celebrating design excellence, supporting the creative community, and inspiring new conversations about the future of modern living. As the definition of luxury continues to evolve, one principle remains constant: exceptional design is no longer measured only by how a space looks, but by how it makes people feel.
